Repulsion is the sort of Path of Exile 2 gem that makes more sense once you stop treating it like a normal nuke. It's a Kalguuran skill, so it spends Ward, not Mana, and that already changes how you plan around it, much like planning your upgrades around PoE2 Currency when a build starts getting expensive. You cast it on an area, wait through the curse delay, then hit the cursed enemies to set off Repulsion Wave. The first cast doesn't do the killing. The follow-up hits do the work.

How the skill really plays

Damage, stun, and the odd Attack tag

One detail trips people up all the time: Repulsion Wave is described with Attack damage, but it doesn't use your weapon damage. That means a bigger physical weapon isn't automatically the answer. Gem level, physical scaling, area modifiers, stun buildup, and the right supports matter more. Repulsion applies 20 Fragility, and the wave gains more stun buildup per Fragility on the target, which is why stun-focused players keep looking at it. The exact math isn't fully laid out, though, so don't build only from a tooltip and expect clean answers.

Ward cost and gem level matter

Because Repulsion costs Ward, its power is tied to your Runic Ward setup. At low levels the cost is modest, but it climbs hard as the gem levels. If your armour isn't Runeforged well enough, or if other Kalguuran skills are also draining Ward, the skill can feel clunky. Low-level gems also have enemy-level curse limits, so an underlevelled Repulsion may simply fail to affect tougher content. Once the gem gets higher, that restriction appears to go away, though the listed "0" value in the data isn't explained very clearly.

Supports and practical use

For supports, most players will look first at area, curse, stun, and cost tools. Magnified Area helps coverage, Heightened Curse and Focused Curse make the curse side more appealing, and Stun supports fit the Fragility theme. Cursed Ground can change how the skill applies, while Unleash or Cascade can help spread it in packs. I'd be careful with anything that sounds good on paper but only boosts a self-cast hit, because Repulsion's cast itself deals no damage. The trigger is where the value sits, and that distinction matters.

Repulsion works best when your build can tag a pack, hit it quickly, and keep Ward flowing. It's not a plug-and-play boss killer, and it's not a weapon DPS showcase. It's more of a setup gem for knockback, stun pressure, and messy pack explosions.
